Porphyry cubes
Porphyry cubes, also called sampietrini or bolognini, are produced by mechanically shearing selected porphyry slabs of different sizes and thicknesses according to the customer’s needs.
The visible upper face of the porphyry cubes has a natural surface while the edges are irregularly split.
Generally we supply the cubes in bulk or in big bags or wooden crates of about 15 quintals; it is however possible to purchase the material in customized quantities according to the needs and the sizes to be paved.
Designs and colors for the flooring
Using regular porphyry cubes, master installers can create floors characterized by valuable designs of different types:
- contrasting arch, or the classic rounded pose generally used for paving squares
- in straight rows to obtain a modern and clean result
- peacock tail, an elegant solution embellished by white Carrara marble cubes
Based on the project we are able to supply the customer with cubes of particular dimensions, but also supplies characterized by the dominance of a specific color. In any case, the peculiarities of the Trentino Porphyry will make each floor unique and unrepeatable.

Use of porphyry cubes for flooring
We have different types of cubes for each type of porphyry flooring; first of all it is necessary to distinguish between pedestrian or vehicular paving.
- Pedestrian: use of cubes with a thickness of 4/6 cm
- Drive-over: use of cubes with a thickness equal to or greater than 6/8 cm
The installation can take place on a concrete screed bound by electro-welded mesh or on a well-settled natural substrate.
To lay the 4/6 cm porphyry cubes, about 10-12 cm of thickness are needed between the porphyry and the bedding material, such as sand and cement. For the 6/8 cm cubes, about 12-14 cm thick between the two are recommended.
Maintenance and cleaning
To maintain the porphyry flooring, a good cleaning with water is sufficient, even better if it is carried out with a hydro-cleaner. The use of detergents or acids is not recommended as they could ruin the seal between the cubes.

We obtain the characteristic porphyry tiles by cutting the natural porphyry slabs extracted in the quarry into rectangular shapes.

The main feature of porphyry binders is the unmistakable parallelepiped shape that differentiates them from cubes.
Porphyry curbs and curbs
Porphyry curbs, also called cords or edges, are used in the construction of borders such as raised sidewalks and flower beds.
Porphyry pebbles
The porphyry pebbles are created by the force of nature, they are in fact the result of the erosion of flowing water.
